Fall Ball - SSLYBA QUICKBALL
Game Concept
Quickball is a fast-paced, high-repetition variation of baseball designed to maximize development and engagement. Unlike traditional 9 vs. 9 baseball, Quickball is played with three teams of 5 players rotating through batting, infield, and outfield, ensuring constant action, minimal sitting, and more opportunities to hit, throw, catch, and run.
Perfect for fall baseball, practices, or skills clinics, Quickball helps players finish their season stronger and better prepared for off-season development.
***Bring your 5-player team or a team can be found for your player.
Team Setup
3 teams of 5 players rotate through each role: Batting, Infield, Outfield - Suggested positions: Pitcher (P), Catcher (C), 1B, 2B, SS, 1–2 OF (adjust per team size) - Teams rotate roles after every 3 outs - Continuous batting order across innings.
*There may be instances where coaches pitch to help with pace of the game depending on age/skill level. There may also be instances where a 9-hole pitching target may be used in place of having a catcher*
Game Format
Each game lasts 5 innings (each team bats 5 times) - OR 1.5-hour time limit (Hard stop), whichever comes first. No new innings after 1hr 15min. When the batting team records 3 outs, OR scores 5 runs, teams rotate: - Batting team to Infield - Infield team to Outfield - Outfield team to Batting.
Pitching and Hitting Rules
*Coaches or game facilitators will pitch for Peewee/Minors/Boys majors games.
- Batters will receive 5 pitches and can foul off the 5th pitch multiple times
- Minors & Boys majors players can only swing and miss 3 times before it is a strikeout.
- Peewee players have the option to use a tee on the 5th pitch. This is to help with the speed of the game and confidence for players at this age level.
*Players will pitch for Girls Majors & Boys JR Thurman games.
- Batters will start with a 1-1 count.
Fielding Rules
Play continues until the pitcher has the ball in the mound/circle area. Standard force outs and tags apply, no infield fly rule.
Scoring
1 run per player who reaches home. Teams accumulate runs across innings. Score is tallied for all 3 teams. 5 run rule per inning with the last inning having unlimited runs.
